Adam Burlison, a senior at Amarillo High and the reigning Nike South Regional champion, joins DyeStat editor Doug Binder to discuss competing in the boys championship race Nov. 18 at Bear Branch Park in Texas. Burlison has not competed for Amarillo this season, but did enter the Texas Tech Open 8-kilometer race Sept. 15, although he did not finish. Burlison is also a placekicker for the 6-5 Amarillo football team, which is competing Nov. 18 in the UIL Class 5A Division 1 playoffs against 11-0 Red Oak. He has six touchbacks in 46 kickoffs this season for the Sandies and handles the PATs and field goals. Burlison ran 15:19.6 on the 5-kilometer layout last season at Bear Branch to capture the regional title, before placing 56th at Nike Cross Nationals at Glendoveer Golf Course in Oregon.
